Boxing

steve0-Underdog Fitness Boxing Coach and Trainer NYCMany professional men and women, high achievers, former athletes, all share an attraction to boxing. We teach privately at first and while emphasizing the sweet science of boxing used to create competitive boxers, we also get our clients in awesome shape! Bottom line-there is not a more of an efficient way to get results fast!

In Training you can get to that point where you want to stop. You’re tired, bored, and you just want to hit the showers, the key is overcoming this point in your workout. As cliché as it may sound, NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP! FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED! Remember, boxing is like nothing else. You can’t quit in the ring! This never quit attitude will carry into various aspects of your life!

Women have a tendency to say”I can’t.” Part of our philosophy in the gym is we don’t say those words. As soon as you say it, it’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Get away from the whole”I can’t do a push up, or a guy push up.” There’s no such thing as a “guy pushup.”

LISA has been boxing training to keep fit for six months. She is a 25-year-old sales consultant, who developed her interest further with personal training sessions that focused on boxing, including hitting pads held by the trainer, punch bag work and general circuit-training fitness including skipping.“I got into boxing by chance. For me the idea of getting on a treadmill for half-an-hour is boring. I just fancied trying something different, so I went to a martial arts class. There was an element of boxing in that and I really enjoyed it. People are surprised when I tell them I do boxing training, but I think it’s because they associate it with fighting rather than fitness. I do enjoy the aggression side of it. It’s great to get my stress out at the end of a busy day. I’ve just bought my own gloves because I know I’m going to stick with it now. Since I’ve been doing boxing I’ve seen a huge improvement in my general fitness and my muscle definition in my arms. At first I didn’t think that it would have such a huge effect on my tummy, but I suppose it’s all the twisting – I’ve really noticed the difference.”

Finding a trainer -A certified professional trainer is a must. Also look for someone with a boxing background or martial arts experience. This will be a huge advantage as they will have an endless supply of exercises for you to try and you will also be safe in the knowledge that they know what they are doing.

Buying Equipment – Always buy good quality gloves and try them on. Once you’ve invested in equipment, look after it – never let anyone borrow your gloves and never put them down on the floor.

Remember – It’s supposed to be fun – Don’t be pushed into doing anything you don’t feel comfortable with. You’ll work better if you enjoy it. It’s your money and as long as you walk away feeling you’ve had a good workout then that’s fine.

Eat right – To get the most from your training you need to look at your nutrition too. A healthy, balanced diet is essential if you want to achieve your fitness goals. Good luck and remember – be all you can be!
